We now know that 90% of the things on the skin we call ‘ageing’ are directly caused by the sun, this is called ‘photoaging.'

Photoaging is almost inescapable, as it is hard to steer completely clear of the sun. As you take the time to consider the amount of “face-time” you give the sun, also be aware of the skin products that you can use to combat and reduce the effects of the damaging rays of the sun.

Glycolic acid is a naturally occurring substance, that when used in skincare products offer many benefits to the skin, from rejuvenating to moisturizing. In its raw state, glycolic acid is a powder made up of colourless crystals that have no scent.

The Benefits of Glycolic Acid

You’ll find Glycolic Acid in many chemical peels due to high percentages being very effective for skin treatments (if done safely and properly!). It’s even safe enough to use on sensitive skins.

(Dandruff to Cradle Cap)

Seborrheic Dermatitis is an extremely common dermatologic condition that is generally considered a type of eczema.

What Are the Symptoms?

Dandruff, skin issue .As with most types of eczema, a red, scaly irritated rash is noted on the skin. People with seborrheic dermatitis will often complain of scaling or excessive flaking. This is often accompanied with itching or irritation in the affected areas of their skin. Areas most-often effected by this condition include the scalp, eyebrows, nasolabial folds, and corners of the mouth. The beard area, chest and groin can be affected causing flaking and discomfort as well. In general, these areas are rich in sebum and sebaceous glands. On the skin, the rash appears red and slightly oily, with yellow-coloured crust and scales. Seborrheic dermatitis is one of the most common causes of dandruff when it develops on the scalp.

Seborrheic dermatitis in babies and young children is commonly called Cradle Cap.

Antioxidants are an important skin care ingredient to protect and prevent skin damage. Our skin cells are under a continual barrage of attack from free radicals. These highly reactive molecules are generated from our cells normal metabolism, as well as a number of environmental insults such as UV, smoking and pollution. These molecules directly damage DNA, cell walls and other cellular structures that in time age our skin.

A corrective skincare regime should Protect, Correct, and Restore. Every skincare regimen should include a broad-spectrum sunscreen to reflect damaging UV rays, a Vitamin A or retinol to rebuild collagen, and an antioxidant to restore the skin cells to their undamaged state.
