Glycolic acid - The Glow Getter

Glycolic acid — you’ve probably seen it on the back of multiple skin-care cleansers, serums, and gels you have in your collection. We can’t seem to escape the ingredient, and there’s a good reason why, glycolic acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) and works as a mild exfoliant. It’s a small molecule, and this is important because it helps it to penetrate deeper into the skin and work more effectively. Like other acids, it works to brighten the skin’s appearance by removing dead skin layers that live on top. While all skin types can use glycolic acid, it may work best on oily and acne-prone skin. It’s harder to tolerate when you have dry or sensitive skin. If that sounds like you, stick to products that contain it in lower percentages or reduce the frequency with which you use it. On the flip side, glycolic acid is highly effective for evening out your skin tone and altering discoloration, which is why those with acne-prone skin generally respond well to it.

IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light

  IPL  IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light, is a type of light therapy used to help treat discolouration in the skin, such as melasma, sun damage, age spots, thread veins, birthmarks and freckles, as well as acne and signs of ageing (think fine lines and wrinkles). IPL is also commonly used for hair removal.The Intense Pulsed Light is very often likened to a flash light in the the light scatters whereas laser is a beam of light. It works well as it gets right to the pigment, heating it up and breaking it down thanks to its multiple wavelengths of light that scatter within the skin. These multiple wavelengths are able to treat various issues at once.

Bakuchiol is a natural antioxidant and anti-ageing ingredient found in the seeds and leaves of the plant Psoralea Corylifolia. This plant, also known as babchi, is native to and grows wild throughout India, where it plays a role in Ayurvedic medicine. Bakuchiol is a new molecule that has a similar effect on retinoid receptors, but having no structural resemblance to retinoids family, but is considered a functional analogue of retinol.
