Bride and Groom Skincare Tips

Skin Care Tips and Guides – May 03, 2020

Bride and Groom Skincare Tips

Radiance on the big day is what every bride  and groom wants. Results are dependent on  having excellent results driven skincare. You need to start at least six months before your big day.   Everyone’s skin is different so everyone’s regimen will be different and dependent on what is most important for them – firming, elimination of fine lines and so on.As for injectables, such as botulinum or fillers, if you’ve never used them, 6-8 months before the wedding is the time to start them. If you use them regularly, aim to have a treatment no later than a month before the day.   In the final weeks, use a weekly face mask such as the SkinCeuticals Phyto Corrective Masque, which is hydrating, calming and restores radiance. If you are prone to the odd pimple use a clay mask directly on the blemish to heal it.   What about the other areas of skin on show in a wedding dress, the décolletage and neck?   The face and neck as a single unit and treat them the same. AHAs that are suitable for your face, also ok  for your neck, particularly if you are worried about pigmentation. Don’t use chemical peels or retinol in the week before the wedding because it may cause flaking or drying, which will affect the look of your make-up.If you are using a make-up artist, don’t let them use products, such as a primer, that they haven’t allowed you to trial in advance. It’s not the time to discover that you are allergic to a particular product. Some people say don’t use mineral sunscreens on your face because they make you look a bit chalky in photos. Use a sunscreen that’s appropriate for sensitive skin, such as SkinCeuticals Sheer Mineral UV Defence. The weeks leading up to a wedding are some of the most stressful in your life, so not surprising that you break out in a rash or get a big shiny spot. If you normally use SkinCeuticals Phyto Corrective, it will help calm and hydrate your skin as it has a good content of hyaluronic acid along with antinflammatory properties.

T’is the Season for Glistening Skin

Skin Care Tips and Guides – December 01, 2019

T’is the Season for Glistening Skin

IPL Photo Facial. Also known as  Photo Rejuvenation?  The Photo Rejuvenation procedure, also known as a Photo Facial, is a series of intense light pulses (IPL) that are absorbed by abnormally enlarged vessels or pigmentation as they make way through the skin’s surface. The heat of the light pulses weakens the enlarged vessels or lesions which triggers normal healing progression. Lesions can form and will darken before being absorbed by the body or flaking off. This process causes no damage to the skin.   The Photo Rejuvenation Treatment The area to be treated is prepared by cleansing and applying a water-based gel. We will always patch test you in the area of treatment first to assure that your skin is ok with the treatment.  We cool the area first using a cool handpiece. The pulses of light (IPL) are then distributed to the treatment area varying from 15 to 45 minutes. At the completion of the photo facial procedure, the gel is removed from the skin and purified.  We cool the area of treatment as we go. A cool compress may be applied to the area after the photo facial to sooth sensitive skin. Daily activities can be resumed immediately following a Photo Facial Procedure, with a few pieces of advice.   Frequency of the Treatment  The number of treatments required varies from patient to patient. Significant improvements may be seen after 2 to 3 treatments; however, 5 treatments are normally recommended for best possible results. Clients achieve a high level of satisfaction following photo facial procedure recommendations seeing from 70% to 90 % improvement toward more even toned, smoother skin.   Are there side effects from a Photo Rejuvenation Procedure?  Although side effects are rare it is IMPORTANT  that prior to a photo facial, exposure to the sun be AVOIDED FOR AT LEAST FOUR weeks before and after treatment. Treatment can affect capillaries making them more visible, pigmentation may appear darker and the skin may look flushed. These side effects would be visible directly following treatment. Temporary swelling and/or blistering may occur but is very rare.  Who should consider the Photo Rejuvenation procedure?  If you are suffering from: Rosacea, Flushing, Age spots, Sun damaged skin, Photo Ageing, Mild acne scars, Large Pores, Dark Circles around the eyes and Fine lines.  Photo Facials leads to restoration of even-toned, smoother looking skin.  Photo Rejuvenation and Rosacea?  Rosacea is a skin condition which causes redness and flushing of the skin.  Common causes of rosacea include: Exposure to the sun, Alcohol consumption, Ageing, Stress and Medication  The Photo Rejuvenation Procedure reduces the flushed appearance of the skin which minimises the necessity for antibiotics and other treatments for redness. For best results a combination of topical skincare and the IPL work best. The IPL stimulates collagen which in time strengthen the skin keeping the redness away from the surface of the skin.  Our photo rejuvenation procedure, also known as a Photo Facial, is a series of intense light pulses that stimulate collagen production and improves the appearance of skin imperfections. How to take care of your skin to retain a youthful appearance.

Skin Care Tips and Guides – July 08, 2019

How to take care of your skin to retain a youthful appearance.

The ageing process is of course inevitable but there are several steps you can take to slow it down and continue to look your best. There is a whole lot of treatments available, many of which focus on definitive parts of the face and body, so you can focus on the areas that you want to enhance. The great thing about aesthetic treatments is that they enhance your natural beauty; they make you look younger and less tired, without taking away what makes you, you. Injectables. When it comes down to injectables, the focus now is to refresh rather than over inflate, using strategic placement of product to create a natural, well-rested look. There can be no ‘one size fits all’ approach and a holistic, personalised anti-ageing strategy is required to truly have a benefit.   Skincare.   To have maximum benefit when it comes to anti-ageing, we recommend that aesthetic treatments are incorporated into a lifestyle which has both health and well being. When my clients visit me concerned about skin ageing, one of the first things that I discuss in-depth with them is their skin routine and the quality of their skin . There are several things you should be doing to make sure that your skin is well looked after and that ageing is kept at bay. When makeup is removed, the skin is  ready to absorb product. After a long day, your skin desperately wants to rid itself of product and  pore blocking pollution. Sun protection. There is also no such thing as a safe tan. When cells are exposed to UV light, more melanin is produced. This is the pigment that colours your skin, which is why you tan. The production of melanin is a sign that damage has already been done and your skin has been injured by UV exposure. If you like to spend a lot of time in the sun, make sure that you apply sunscreen every two hours and again after returning from the pool. 90% + of skin damage is caused by UV exposure and the best way to avoid this is to apply a good quality broad-spectrum SPF daily.   https://www.nualawoulfe.ie/collections/skinceuticals  Moisturisers. Although moisturisers may appear to provide instant softening and plumping, what most of them are doing is sitting on the surface of the skin acting as a barrier. Instead of providing deep hydration our creams are making our skin lazy, causing it to switch off its natural moisture production. Natural hydration ultimately must come from within the body and cannot in fact be reversed by applying moisturiser on the skin’s surface. What most people really need is a good exfoliator, hyaluronic, retinol, a healthy diet rich in fruit, vegetables and nuts and plenty of water. https://www.nualawoulfe.ie/collections/skinceuticals Smoking & alcohol. Smoking damages your skin, it kills your vitamin C which in turn depletes collagen levels. It also discolours the skin Smoking can speed up the normal aging process of your skin, contributing to wrinkles. These skin changes may occur after only 10 years of smoking. The more cigarettes you smoke and the longer you smoke, the more skin wrinkling you're likely to have. Alcohol dehydrates the skin Alcohol also depletes our body of vitamin A, which plays an important role in keeping our skin firm and youthful. Alcohol can cause premature ageing to our eyes   This, alongside a personalised in clinic treatments can have a positive impact when it comes to helping you  look more youthful for longer. https://www.nualawoulfe.ie/pages/bookings
