Compromised skin barrier
A damaged skin barrier—the stratum corneum's ceramide-cholesterol-fatty acid "mortar"—lets irritants in, water out, and inflammation rage, causing stinging, redness, tight-oily skin, worsening acne, rosacea flares, and poor active tolerance. Common culprits include over-cleansing, harsh acids/alcohol, hot water, and stress. Stop aggressors first, then rebuild lipids and calm immunity for resilient skin.
