Skincare Products You need for glowing skin.

Skin Care Tips and Guides – January 08, 2025

Skincare Products You need for glowing skin.

In every skincare regime I advise, the three non-negotiable products: Vitamin C for brightening; an SPF for protection for the morning and retinol for resurfacing at night. Retinol, derived from Vitamin A, increases cell turn over, bringing bright healthy new skin cells to the surface and removing dull skin. It’s been clinically proven on an impressive level to be widely effective on the face in terms of plumping skin smoothing fine lines and reducing pigmentation so if your skin can handle it, it’s a total game changer. However, I advise starting with the lowest dose possible and building it up over time. Retinol should be applied sparingly in the evening only to limit sensitivity and photosensitivity, and only used once or twice a week to begin with- allowing your skin time to adjust. Dot a pea-sized amount onto your finger and gently massage it into clean, dry skin. Take care not to apply too much product while also avoiding the delicate eye area as both can cause irritation. Do not apply alongside Vitamin-C products (typically applied in the morning) and do ensure to apply a broad spectrum sunscreen daily whilst using retinol.

Skin Care Tips and Guides – December 07, 2024

Treating the under eye area

Ageing can start to show around the eye area as early as your  20’s. Particularly if you have been exposed to UV for many years .  To prevent or reduce the signs of ageing around  the eyes, remember that it's important to protect your skin from sun damage, stay hydrated, get enough sleep and use a moisturiser that's appropriate for your skin . Use a broad spectrum SPF daily and reapply as required.  Drink plenty of water to flush out your system. This helps to reduce puffiness in the area . This in itself can improve under eye puffiness which can improve the look of dark circles.

Skin Care Tips and Guides – October 16, 2024

Autumn is a great time to address skin issues

Chemical peels are non-invasive cosmetic procedures designed to improve the appearance and texture of the skin by exfoliating the outermost layer of dead skin cells. During the treatment, a specialised solution containing one or more types of acids is applied to the skin, encouraging the shedding of damaged skin cells. This process stimulates skin cell turnover, revealing a smoother, more even complexion underneath. Fall and Glow: As the leaves turn golden, it's not just your outfits that needs an update—your skin deserves one too

Mineral SPF

Skin Care Tips and Guides – September 21, 2023

Mineral SPF

Best known as a mineral or physical UV protectant, zinc oxide forms a physical barrier on the skin's surface that reflects and scatters the sun's rays before they have the chance to penetrate into the skin. Zinc oxide often is combined with additional UV-B blockers to provide the most complete broad-spectrum sunscreen. As zinc oxide sunscreens offer slightly better coverage across the sun’s UV spectrum, it is recommended to begin with this ingredient.

11 Essential Home Skincare Steps and Their Importance

Remember your home skin care is essential – what you do every day, twice a day has significant impact on your skin – so you want your skincare to be effective. We have 11 tips, along with our suggested products below: 1. Use SPF - no excuses! While you’ll be used to wearing sunscreen when outdoors, it’s important to know that the same UVA and UVB rays can penetrate clouds and windows. Not only that, but there is evidence that blue light from screens can damage skin. So, whether you’re only popping to the shops or having a duvet day, you should still always apply a minimum factor 30 every day. Skinceuticals Advanced Brightening SPF 50    SkinCeuticals Ultra Facial UV Defense Sunscreen Hands off –  Doors, buttons, work equipment… how many things do you touch a day without washing your hands straight afterwards? Just think how much dirt, oil and germs accumulate on your fingertips… now you will you touch your face? This can lead to breakouts and other skin conditions. Wash your hands as often as possible and avoid touching your face unnecessarily. Brighten with Vitamin C If you want a brighter complexion, vitamin C is a must-have! Known as an antioxidant, vitamin C helps protect the skin’s surface from environmental aggressors such as UV and pollution, as well as the oxidative damage caused by free radicals. Use it every morning after cleansing. SkinCeuticals Serum 10 - 30ml SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF® - 30ml SkinCeuticals Double Defence C E Ferulic Kit. Free Full Sized Ultra Facial Defence Worth €36 SkinCeuticals Double Defence Phloretin CF Kit. Free Full Sized Advanced Brightening UV Defence SPF 50 Worth €49.00 SkinCeuticals Silymarin CF - a new antioxidant for oily or blemished skin. Don’t forget the lips Your lips are also susceptible to the sun’s radiation, leading to a dry and damaged appearance. Apply a little of your hyaluronic serum Ha Intensifier by Skinceuticals is a good option then apply. SkinCeuticals H.A. Intensifier - 30ml SkinCeuticals AOX Lip Complex morning and night and more regularly if required.  Exfoliate dead skin cells One of the reasons our skin can look dull is because of dead skin cells. Scrubbing these away with a good exfoliator is crucial if you want to bring back a natural glow. This month Skinceuticals Retexturising serum is our product of the month – resurfacing is very important particularly as we age – over time, regardless of lifestyle, skin begins to change. Signs of ageing may appear. Fine lines, wrinkles, discolouration, and loss of elasticity can become more visible. Retexturing Activator® targets two mechanisms — exfoliation and hydration — to help promote the skin’s natural regeneration process, helping to visibly reduce the appearance of surface lines and help transform the look of the skin with a smoother, softer looking texture. This serum can also be used as a compliment to retinol use – use on the nights you do not use retinol. SkinCeuticals Retexturing Activator® - 30ml Retinol 0.3 contains 0.3% pure retinol and is enhanced with the latest stabilisation and delivery technologies to provide maximum efficacy. Scientifically proven to help diminish the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and age-spots from both intrinsic and photo ageing. Retinol 0.3 can aid in reducing the appearance of pore sizes, while correcting blemishes and blotchiness associated with problematic skin. Retinol 0.3 is ideal for skin new to Retinol products. SkinCeuticals Retinol 0.3 - 30ml Stay hydrated As well as drinking around eight glasses of water a day – good for your general health as well as your skin health – you should consider investing in a great hydrating formula that will leave your face looking fresh! Obagi Hydrate is a great cost effective cream. Another popular treatment cream is SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2 - 48ml.  Cleanse  Clean your skin thoroughly at the end of each day, you’ll ensure that all the dirt, bacteria, oil, and pollution has been removed from your skin. It will improve how your treatment skincare absorbs into the skin.  SkinCeuticals Simply Clean - 200ml SkinCeutical's Glycolic Renewal Cleanser SkinCeuticals Gentle Cleanser - 250ml DMK Milk Cleanser DMK Deep Pore Cleanser Emphasise those eyes The skin around your eyes is thinner and show signs of ageing more quickly than other areas of the face. Whether you suffer from dryness, puffiness, dark circles or pigmentation, an eye cream can work wonders. Look out for ones that contain hyaluronic acid and peptides if you want to see a real difference. SkinCeuticals A.G.E. Eye Complex - 15ml SkinCeuticals Mineral Eye UV Defense SPF 30 - 10ml SkinCeuticals Eye Balm - 15ml Eminence Marine Flower Peptide Eye Cream Say goodbye to coffee Bad news if you’re a coffee lover. Even decaf can make your skin look dehydrated. Focus on upping your intake of water throughout the day if you want to get your glow back. 10. Hydrate with HA Hyaluronic acid (HA) is what we use in a lot of dermal fillers to volumise and contour your face, so you’ll appreciate that it’s going to be great in skincare too. When looking for a HA serum, see the molecule is different molecule size so the hyaluronic acid is a vehicle that penetrates the skin to be effective where it needs to be – smaller molecules travel deeper into the skin – and brings more active ingredients deeper in to the skin.   Catch up on sleep Unsurprisingly, sleep has a key role in rejuvenating your skin. During the third and fourth stages of sleep, your body goes into repair mode and produces cells and hormones that help boost collagen production, which results in healthier skin! Avoid screens before bedtime, try a relaxing podcast or drink a herbal tea if you struggle to get to sleep. We would love if you would listen to our podcast where we discuss this topic and countless others!   Invest in retinol Derived from vitamin A, retinol is renowned as one of the most powerful tools in skincare. It helps to exfoliate and smooth skin, while diminishing the appearance of hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles. There’s lots of different strengths of retinol, so if you’re new to it, start low! It must also only be applied at night as it can make your skin more sensitive to light. Speak to us if you’d like advice on how to get started. SkinCeuticals Retinol 0.3 - 30ml  We love results  We hope you found these skincare tips useful. If you’d like to invest in skincare that’s clinically proven to make a difference, check out our shop or chat to our skincare experts to find out what’s best for your specific concerns.

Dry/Dehydrated Skin - Causes and Treatment Options

Dry/Dehydrated Skin - Causes and Treatment Options

When your skin is dehydrated it simply means that it is lacking in moisture. The skin usually produces its own moisture in the form of hyaluronic acid and surface oil (sebum), which the skin will naturally produce. However, there are a number of internal and external factors that can disrupt this process, and the skin requires a little extra care. When the complexion becomes dry, it can lead to a number of other concerns whereby it’s even texture and tone have changed. Dry skin will often lose its natural glow, giving the appearance a dull and lifeless look. The complexion may feel rough, start to become tight, flaky, itchy, red and fine lines can look more noticeable.

Post Summer Skin treats.

That summer glow can look very attractive, skin conditions such as acne, pigmentation, previous skin damage is very often camouflaged by a tan. Unfortunately, despite the sun having lots of health benefits. Long-term effects of ultraviolet radiation exposure or overexposure to the sun can lead to premature ageing and skin cancer. The sun’s UV rays reach the DNA within the cells in your skin and cause them to malfunction. Skin cancer is caused by abnormal growth of the cells nearest the skin, squamous, basal and melanocytes. Squamous and basal cells form non melanoma skin cancer while melanocytes cells which give the skin its pigment or colour form melanoma skin cancer. Basal cell cancers (BCC) are more strongly related to acute sun burn events in childhood and intermittent adult

Did you know skincare products have a shelf life?

Did you know skincare products have a shelf life?

Skincare has a shelf life – the date can usually be found on the back of the bottle or the bottom of the jar. If there's not an actual date, there might be a tiny image of an opened jar with a number on it: six, 12, 24, or 36. This refers to the 'period after opening' and it recommends the maximum number of months a product should be used before discarding. It is important to note as lots of skincare has oils and these oils oxidise.

Acne Prevention Tips

To reduce acne or inflammatory skin conditions, I recommend eliminating soft drinks and processed foods because they are packed with synthetic additives like nitrates, artificial dyes, and flavourings. Such ingredients may stimulate inflammatory processes in the entire body, including the skin. Many people see reductions of acne after they eliminate just dairy and sugary foods. When indulging in a dessert, opt for dark chocolate, fruits or baked goods made from whole grains, like oatmeal cookies.

Treating your neck!

Skin Care Tips and Guides – July 17, 2022

Treating your neck!

Protect the skin on your neck! Use SPF daily . Avoid sunburn and excessive sun exposure.  Moisturise your neck skin and décolletage, drink plenty of water, eat a healthy diet filled with antioxidants and vitamins. Treatments .    Profhilo is an injectable hyaluronic acid treatment for skin laxity on the face, neck, or hands, offering intense hydration and tighter, more luminous skin. Some call it the injectable skin glow! This anti-ageing treatment contains higher concentrations of hyaluronic acid than dermal fillers, with 64mg of HA per injection. Unlike a dermal filler treatment, Profhilo does not give volume, it instead provides a slow release of hyaluronic acid below the skin surface to hydrate and rejuvenate.   This “super skin booster” not only hydrates your skin from the inside out, getting rid of any crepey-ness, it increases your collagen and elastin production like nothing else I know, actually remodelling your skin, making it look far firmer. Profhilo has the following unique abilities: It stimulates your body to produce 4 types of collagen (good collagen, not scar collagen) It enhances stem cell reproduction meaning your skin rejuvenates It restores both skin and fat layers to their natural state (it doesn’t enhance them, so do not worry, you won’t look puffed up!) It can treat the face, neck, lip lines, arms, decolletage, hands and tummies.    SkinCeuticals Tripeptide-R Retinol. A daily retinol cream specifically formulated exclusively for the neck, SkinCeuticals Tripeptide-R Retinol Neck Repair Cream improves the appearance of wrinkles, loss of firmness, uneven skin tone and crepiness.
