LED treatment. Works well on its own, makes most other treatments better.

LED or Light Emitting Diode therapy is known for its ability to accelerate the skin’s healing process. Skin cells receive a rejuvenating, anti-aging boost increasing blood flow, helping bring nutrients to the treated areas, as well as stimulating fibroblast and collagen production to strengthen your skin and battle the ageing process. Antyage is the most advanced and powerful LED phototherapy medical device available to treat a broad range of concerns.

IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light

IPL  IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light, is a type of light therapy used to help treat discolouration in the skin, such as melasma, sun damage, age spots, thread veins, birthmarks and freckles, as well as acne and signs of ageing (think fine lines and wrinkles). IPL is also commonly used for hair removal. The Intense Pulsed Light is very often likened to a flash light in the the light scatters whereas laser is a beam of light. It works well as it gets right to the pigment, heating it up and breaking it down thanks to its multiple wavelengths of light that scatter within the skin. These multiple wavelengths are able to treat various issues at once.

Free radicals & Antioxidants.

Free radicals & Antioxidants.

What are free radicals?Natural chemical reactions in our cells produce unwanted by-products called reactive oxygen species (ROS) – better known as free radicals. These furiously ping about inside cells causing havoc, particularly a type of damage called oxidation. Seen an apple go brown? Smelt oil or nuts that have gone off? That’s oxidation. Unchecked, a disastrous chain reaction would occur in which cell’s most precious elements – their fat rich membranes, their proteins and DNA - would degrade and suffer irreparable harm. There’s also a whole other source of free radicals - the environment. The skin is bombarded by sunlight (UV, infrared, visible light), weather and pollution which trigger the production of free radicals.

What can be done to slow the ageing process?

What can be done to slow the ageing process?

We start losing collagen from the age of 20, starting the creation of lines and wrinkles. Healthy skin reflects overall health, and poor nutrition can contribute to factors that accelerate skin ageing.Environmental factors such as ultraviolet radiation, pollution, nutrition and stress, play a key role in the way we age. Research also suggests that a diet rich in sugar contributes to the loss of collagen in the tissues as the result of a process known as glycation, which can destroy collagen. Smoking kills vitamin C and in turn damages collagen.

T’is the Season for Glistening Skin

IPL Photo Facial. Also known as  Photo Rejuvenation?  The Photo Rejuvenation procedure, also known as a Photo Facial, is a series of intense light pulses (IPL) that are absorbed by abnormally enlarged vessels or pigmentation as they make way through the skin’s surface. The heat of the light pulses weakens the enlarged vessels or lesions which triggers normal healing progression. Lesions can form and will darken before being absorbed by the body or flaking off. This process causes no damage to the skin.   The Photo Rejuvenation Treatment The area to be treated is prepared by cleansing and applying a water-based gel. We will always patch test you in the area of treatment first to assure that your skin is ok with the treatment.  We cool the area first using a cool handpiece. The pulses of light (IPL) are then distributed to the treatment area varying from 15 to 45 minutes. At the completion of the photo facial procedure, the gel is removed from the skin and purified.  We cool the area of treatment as we go. A cool compress may be applied to the area after the photo facial to sooth sensitive skin. Daily activities can be resumed immediately following a Photo Facial Procedure, with a few pieces of advice.   Frequency of the Treatment  The number of treatments required varies from patient to patient. Significant improvements may be seen after 2 to 3 treatments; however, 5 treatments are normally recommended for best possible results. Clients achieve a high level of satisfaction following photo facial procedure recommendations seeing from 70% to 90 % improvement toward more even toned, smoother skin.   Are there side effects from a Photo Rejuvenation Procedure?  Although side effects are rare it is IMPORTANT  that prior to a photo facial, exposure to the sun be AVOIDED FOR AT LEAST FOUR weeks before and after treatment. Treatment can affect capillaries making them more visible, pigmentation may appear darker and the skin may look flushed. These side effects would be visible directly following treatment. Temporary swelling and/or blistering may occur but is very rare.  Who should consider the Photo Rejuvenation procedure?  If you are suffering from: Rosacea, Flushing, Age spots, Sun damaged skin, Photo Ageing, Mild acne scars, Large Pores, Dark Circles around the eyes and Fine lines.  Photo Facials leads to restoration of even-toned, smoother looking skin.  Photo Rejuvenation and Rosacea?  Rosacea is a skin condition which causes redness and flushing of the skin.  Common causes of rosacea include: Exposure to the sun, Alcohol consumption, Ageing, Stress and Medication  The Photo Rejuvenation Procedure reduces the flushed appearance of the skin which minimises the necessity for antibiotics and other treatments for redness. For best results a combination of topical skincare and the IPL work best. The IPL stimulates collagen which in time strengthen the skin keeping the redness away from the surface of the skin.  Our photo rejuvenation procedure, also known as a Photo Facial, is a series of intense light pulses that stimulate collagen production and improves the appearance of skin imperfections.
